ORANGEBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WIS) – The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources (SDNR) reported a 13-year-old boy has died following a hunting accident that happened Sunday afternoon in Orangeburg County.
Officials said initial information indicated two friends were squirrel hunting on private land when one shot the other.
According to SCDNR, adult supervision is only required of youth hunters under 16 on public hunting lands, known in the state as Wildlife Management Areas. However, there is no such requirement on private lands.
SCDNR is investigating the accident.
