Haley to hold campaign rally in N. Charleston day after New Hampshire defeat

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC/AP) – Former South Carolina governor and United Nations ambassador Nikki Haley will return to her home state Wednesday.

The Republican presidential hopeful will make a campaign stop in North Charleston on Wednesday at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Charleston Airport Hotel & Convention Center Grand Ballroom on International Boulevard.

Haley is the last major challenger to frontrunner Donald Trump in the race for the Republican nomination.

Trump won Tuesday’s New Hampshire primary by 11% points a week after winning the Iowa caucuses.

Trump posted especially strong results in the state’s most conservative areas, while Haley won more liberal parts. The only areas in which Haley was leading Trump were in Democratic-leaning cities and towns such as Concord, Keene and Portsmouth.

Despite defeats in both Iowa and New Hampshire, Haley vowed to keep fighting.

“This race is far from over. There are dozens of states left to go,” Haley said.

South Carolina’s Feb. 24 primary is the next chance Haley has to earn delegates. She will bypass the Nevada caucuses.

Wednesday’s event is set to begin at 7 p.m. and tickets can be found here.
