John Frylinck: Police suspend search for missing man living with dementia after sixth day searching

Police have suspended their search for missing man John Frylinck after six days of scouring bushland in the Perth Hills.

Search and rescue teams have been unable to find the 70-year-old after he was last seen on Thursday evening at the Mundaring Sculpture Park near Jacoby Street around 8.15pm.

Mr Frylinck is believed to have wandered away from his wife and their dog near dense Mundaring bushland.

On Tuesday police officially stopped their search for Mr Frylinck.

“An extensive area has been searched over the last six days, however Mr Frylinck has not been located,” a police spokeswoman said.

“Police thank the emergency service volunteers who have volunteered their time to assist with the search, and thank the Mundaring community for their support throughout the search.”

People in the area are still urged to stay vigilant in case Mr Frylink is found. Local police are also still conducting inquires regarding his disappearance.

On Sunday his wife told The West the family was “anxious” but remained positive despite the ongoing search.

“We are anxious, still hopeful and very grateful for the help we have been given — when he comes back, he is a million-dollar man; they have thrown so much at him,” Mrs Frylinck said.

“It was not a split second; it was actually about half an hour when I realised something was wrong.
