Leeds United player ratings with Summerville bright before late winner vs Preston

Leeds United (4-2-3-1)

1 Illan Meslier

Not a lot he could do about the early opener from point-blank range. Not a whole lot for him to do after that. One cross stands out that he should have caught rather than punched. 6

22 Archie Gray

Coped better with Liam Millar than he did on Boxing Day, but the winger still had a bit of joy down that flank and caused problems. Did not see much from Gray going forward that stuck. 6

14 Joe Rodon

The Preston strikers got nothing out of Rodon all afternoon. Not much for the backline to real;ly contend wth, but when action was needed Rodon seemed to have three or four gears in reserve. 7

4 Ethan Ampadu (c)

Assertive and took no risks. Like Rodon, he was barely troubled. 7

3 Junior Firpo

Another assist for the collection. Overlapped well and kept providing help in attack. Not hugely bothered in defence on this occasion. 7

44 Ilia Gruev

Built on last weekend’s display with another tidy, if unspectacular, showing. Solid passing, solid protection. Got the ball rolling for the equaliser too. 7

8 Glen Kamara

Some decent passes into the final third for the attackers to shoot off. Not quite as dominant around the engine room as he might have liked to be. 6

20 Daniel James

Right place, right time for his 10th goal of the season. Work rate was outstanding yet again for the Whites. Here, there and everywhere. Some good dribbles and deliveries that asked questions. 7

24 Georginio Rutter

A day of frustration from the Frenchman. A day when the flicks and tricks did not come off, but gave the ball away too frequently. Shooting was typically off the mark as well. 5

10 Crysencio Summerville

Was just an extra spark here or there away from a goal or assist. United’s best attacker and the only man regularly going past defenders, drawing fouls and creating chances. Has played a lot better this season, but stood out today for the limits on show around him. 8

9 Patrick Bamford

Quiet afternoon for Bamford. Played his part by battling the centre-backs, but nothing too clinical or difference-making from him. 6

Substitutes

6 Liam Cooper (on for Summerville 90+6min)

Did fine, but not much beyond tidy close control until a late penalty that needed his composure and clinical finishing. 7

One memorable dribble which went out of play. 5
