Man dies after falling from popular Blue Mountains waterfalls


The man, believed to be in his 20s, was exploring the Minnehaha Falls in Katoomba with friends.

Emergency services were called to the waterfall about 1.30pm, and found him suffering serious injuries.

Paramedics treated the man, but he died at the scene.

A rescue helicopter called in to evacuate the man was called off when he couldn’t be revived.

According to AllTrails, the 1.3-kilometre Minnehaha Falls Track leads to a large swimming hole at the base of the falls. The spot is popular for swimming and rock jumping, with a rope allowing visitors to swing into the water.

The man is yet to be formally identified.

A NSW Police official said inquiries into the incident are ongoing, and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
