GULFPORT, Miss. (WLOX/Gray News) – Authorities arrested a Mississippi woman who allegedly murdered her son and hid his body in a container behind a false wall.
On Saturday, Jerri Lynn Isreal, 66, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder after a weeks-long investigation that started on Dec. 22 when authorities received calls about a possible missing person.
Throughout their investigation, detectives say they noticed contradictions in statements given by Isreal. Authorities say she became increasingly uncooperative and changed her statements multiple times.
Authorities say they discovered that Isreal was arrested and convicted of murder in Florida in 1995. In that case, she made several attempts to dump the body at different locations throughout Florida.
With that information, detectives were able to obtain a search warrant for Isreal’s home.
On Thursday, authorities searched the residence. Isreal was also taken to the hospital after she consumed an unsafe amount of pills.
During the search, authorities uncovered a “military locker-style container” with a dead body inside. The container was found behind a false wall.
The body was later identified as 42-year-old John Allen Gaither, Isreal’s son.
Isreal was processed and transported to the Harrison County Adult Detention Center to be held in lieu of bond.
