Nkunku update, Gallagher message – Five things spotted in Chelsea training before Middlesbrough

Mauricio Pochettino put his players through their paces one more time before they lock horns with Middlesbrough on Tuesday night. Chelsea will welcome the Championship outfit to Stamford Bridge as the Blues hope to book a place in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley.

When asked to measure the significance of the fixture, the former Tottenham manager described the tie as a ‘really important game’ for the club and the fans alike. Pochettino said: “It is a passport to go to the final, to visit Wembley. It’s a really important game for us.

“We need to show that it’s really important for the club, for us, for everyone. We want to be in the final but first of all we need to beat Middlesbrough – a very good team that in the first leg we cannot beat.

“It’s going to be tough like the first half of the leg. We are confident we can have a very good game in front of our fans at Stamford Bridge,” added the 51-year-old. “We need to take advantage of playing at Stamford Bridge and the energy from our fans.:

So, with that being said, football.london have noted down what we noticed during Chelsea training as they geared up to face Middlesbrough.

Nkunku progress

Speaking to reports on Monday, Pochettino confirmed that Christopher Nkunku will miss the Blues’ clash on Tuesday night – but that didn’t stop the Frenchman from getting involved in training. He was spotted with the first-team group at Cobham as normal, gradually stepping up his recovery from injury.
