One Man Dead In Nashua Officer-Involved Shooting On Marie Avenue


Update: An armed man confronted Nashua police after a 911 call for a domestic. He was shot, ran into the home, and was found deceased later.

NASHUA, NH — The New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office responded to a report of an officer-involved shooting in Nashua that occurred on Sunday at a Marie Avenue residence.

At about 11:47 p.m. on Saturday, a 911 call was placed reporting in substance that there was a domestic disturbance at the residence of 49 Marie Avenue in Nashua and that an adult male had a firearm.

Officers with the Nashua Police Department responded to the residence and, outside the home, encountered the subject of the 911 call, armed with a handgun. At one point during the confrontation, one police officer discharged a less-than-lethal projectile, and three other police officers fired bullets at the man, officials said.

The man went into the home, where police later found him to be non-responsive and suffering from an apparent gunshot wound; the man died at the scene.

No other private citizens and no law enforcement officers were physically injured during the incident under investigation, and there is no threat to the public, officials said.

The investigation by the New Hampshire Department of Justice and the New Hampshire State Police Major Crimes Unit into the officer-involved shooting is ongoing. The identity of the deceased adult man, as well as the cause and matter of his death, will be disclosed upon the conclusion of his autopsy, which is scheduled for Monday, and notification of those results to his next of kin.

Pursuant to protocol, the identity of the four police officers who fired at the adult male will not be disclosed until formal interviews have occurred.

New Hampshire State Police Major Crime Unit is at the scene, and investigators are beginning to process evidence in the street and a house near where the body is. A drone being flown by law enforcement can be seen flying above the scene, taking aerial photos.

Nashua police Bearcat remained at the scene in the same position as last night, according to neighbors who were on the scene at the time of the incident.
