Two men charged with kidnapping, torture and extortion after alleged assault of woman in Brisbane’s south


Two men charged over the alleged kidnapping, torture and assault of a woman in Brisbane’s south have had their matters heard in court.

Queensland police allege a 43-year-old woman was taken from a property in Doolandella on Friday afternoon by a group of men and assaulted, before being driven to Forest Lake.

Four men were taken into custody at a Stafford Heights address just after 3:30pm on Friday.

Patriss Tawor and Erick Barry Rock have been charged with one count each of kidnapping, extortion, torture, assault occasioning bodily harm whilst armed, armed robbery, dangerous conduct with a weapon, possess shortened firearms, enter dwelling with intent, enter dwelling with intent whilst armed, and wilful damage.

They did not apply for bail in the Brisbane Magistrates Court today and the matter was adjourned.

Their defence lawyer, Ngarangi Rangihuna, indicated Mr Rock would apply for bail on Monday when his matter returns to court.

Mr Tawor’s matter will return to court the following Monday for committal mention.

Speaking outside court, Mr Rangihuna said he had spoken with the two men, and said they were feeling “stressed”.

Two other men taken into custody on Friday over the alleged assault were released without charge.

Police are urging anyone with information, dashcam or CCTV from the area at the time to come forward.
